Whom To Make Proud
Only two hearts to impress,
Two versions of self, past and future's dress.
The 8-year-old you, wild and free,
Eyes shining bright, full of glee.
Dreams unfolding like a canvas wide,
Believe in yourself, let curiosity glide.
The 80-year-old you, wise and gray,
Reflecting on life's journey, day by day.
Experience etched on every line,
A legacy lived, a story divine.
No need to please the crowd's loud voice,
Or seek approval from a single choice.
Not parents, partner, children, or peers,
Nor critics, nation, or worldly fears.
Just two hearts to impress, your own,
Childhood wonder and wisdom grown.

Enjoyed the read. Is the maths working in the last couplet?
your own,
Childhood wonder and wisdom grown
Seems to make 3. Perhaps remove comma after "own"?
