GONE NIGHT
I see a star and a half moon,
The night is awake,
The night is agaze and it shines on my face,
Illuminating all my fears,
And casting dancing shadows at my feet,
Long like deep water heights,
And I feel light,
As I stride on the lone road.
I want to say I'm not afraid of monsters,
But my walk appears hurried,
My feet buried deep in my shoes.
The light starts fading,
For the clouds of doom are gathering ,
Quick,
And in a flash, the moon is but a dream,
And the stars, of yesterday .
They hang low and I can no longer see the shadows.
My chest awakes,
Faster than before,
And I quicken my pace,
Before the darkness swallows me whole,
Alike the beauty of night.
