'Jamberine'??

Have you heard the word ‘Jamberine’?

If so, please tell me what does it mean?

The Dictionary was my first port of call.

But nothing listed…anything close at all!

Alexa had no idea and Google not a clue.

I’m running out of things to try and do!

Could it be a relation to the tangerine?

Or musically similar to the tambourine!

Maybe it’s something you put on bread.

But we’ve ‘never heard of it’ Tesco said!

Did it come from L14, once upon a time?

Perhaps a product from a jam butty mine!

Is it scouse slang or an outdated word?

In Movies or TV, has it ever been heard?

Pronunciation is right, it’s not ‘jamboree’!

Ah...lost in translation, could it possibly be?

The puzzle is solved, now I can move on.

It was lost in translation, it came from Fon!

‘Marmalade 'was what Fon meant to say.

Fon likes it spread on her toast every day!

(Fon is my Thai girlfriend, she speaks very good English, but amusingly does come up with the odd weird/unique words at times!)

Actually Mike, you were closer to the truth with "jam butty".

When the Normans came north of Watford Gap in 1066, they were mightily intrigued by the concept of our jam butties. Having found the savverners "le sandwich" to be a bit of a mouthful, they called it "la jambeurée" (jam AND butter) adopting it as their very own, and here we are.😑
