Memory’s fading with time

entry picture

Eventually, memory of everything fades.

Footprints in the sand lost to intertidal waves,

What was once visually sharp has now ebbed away

The colours of daylight bled into nightly grey.

All that we once held, and all we once knew,

Wanes, forever disappearing from view.

ever-fading, just like yesterday's dreams

Vanished subconscious, no more to scheme.

In the falling sand, time is worn away,

Blunting sharpest thoughts, dulling brightest days.

We cling to memory, though just a thread,

that slips between our fingers widely spread.

Tears and laughter shared with our families held dear,

Dissolve quicker than mist, when we’re no longer near,

The pages of our youth, from a leafed book, unread,

Ultimately forgotten, for now, we are dead.

Everything we’ve known, everything we’ve been,

swept away with time, we're disregarded unseen.

What remains of each of us is merely a trace,

fleeting ashes of remembrance misplaced

Those moments that we once cherished,

Are mere shadows. We have perished.

In the end, all that's left to find.

Is, that time leaves us all behind.

Much food for thought there JD.
The "arrow of time"... does it exist, is it a thing, a measurable entity?
I maintain that time does not exist...that it is a purely philosophical construct.
Crikey, I've not even had any breakfast yet!
