SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE
Small things like these-
Staring out the window,
Feeling the warmth of the sun on the face,
Eyes gleaming, twinkling with quiet excitement.
Goosebumps rise on the skin,
Aflame with forgotten vigor.
Small things like these-
The cold touch of water,
Toes twitching in the bath,
Awakening to the gentle brush of hands,
Blood rushing to the face,
Cheeks burning with soft sensation.
Small things like these-
Walking barefoot on the hills,
Step by step,
Wind blowing, tousling the hair,
Strands flying free,
Wavering at the top,
Letting go of weight, of worries.
Small things like these-
The scent of rain on earth,
The sound of laughter shared in silence,
The taste of a warm drink on a cold day.
Small things like these
Taken for granted,
May one day disappear,
Slipping through our fingers
Like sand in the wind.
Small things like these
Do not demand attention,
Only to be felt,
Whispering softly to the soul,
Reminding us
That life's greatest joys
Are often the quietest.
