Dancing in the street? You might be if you win this Motown poetry competition
Clevedon LitFest is now open for submissions for its Motorcitysixty poetry competition, which marks the 60th anniversary of the first Motown Revue tour outside the US in 1965.
Entrants worldwide, aged 19 and over, are welcome to submit up to three previously unpublished poems per entry. Poems must be no more than 50 lines in length (excluding title), and are recommended to interpret the ways in which music from the Motown era, and the subsequent music genres influenced by Motown, has made an impact on people.
The winning poet will receive a cash prize of £1,000. The top 50 winning and shortlisted entries will be featured in an anthology, and a prizegiving night, as part of the Clevedon LitFest summer festival in June 2025. The deadline is 20 March, and the judge is music writer Adam White. More details
