Good morning Graham,
I took my partners mother to hospital very early this morning. She is 75 years old and was going in for an eye operation (nothing serious)
Watching her walk through the entrance clutching her overnight bag in case of complications filled me with some kind of dread, for myself or for her I'm not quite sure...quite possibly both of us.
I hope you have success with you longer version of events, and thank you for this one.
David
As an elderly woman, I found the experience dehumanizing having been forced to wait in a public area wearing only a very revealing hospital gown.
I was grateful for the availability of the X-ray but feel that dignity should be part of the treatment.
Luckily I was only chaperoning someone Stephen but it was an interesting 45 minutes for the interested observer such as a poetry writer. Working on a slightly longer piece about the experience.
A real chill in 17 syllables, Graham!

Hospitals are necessarily somewhat dehumanizing. There simply isn’t time or resources to treat people as individuals.
Thank you David, Flyntland and Stephen for commenting
