"WHAT DIES: An Existential Inquiry"

I am WHAT DIES, a question echoing through time,
Seeking answers to life's greatest, most profound crime.

Is it the spirit, that once gave life its spark?
Or the memories, that linger, a fading ember's mark?

Does the utility and purpose, that once drove life's design,
Expire with the final breath, and forever decline?

Or is it just the future, that meets its demise?
Leaving the past to survive, like a lingering, ghostly surprise.

I haunt the present, a fleeting, momentary stay,
Impacting lives, as I whisper, "What's lost, can never be regained."

In memories of others, I linger, a bittersweet refrain,
A reminder of what's past, and what can never be regained.

I am WHAT DIES, a mystery, an enigma, unseen,
A truth that's veiled in shadows, an eternal, haunting dream.
