Love at an AA meeting.
You were standing, coffee steaming
Misty-eyed in melancholic dreaming
My heart beating
Your smile, like the breaking of a new dawn
I stood forlorn
My sobriety, a long road of intention
To my ascension
Our eyes collided, my heart dancing
Entrancing
My feet had strayed no further than my hometown
The local clown
Though in my head I'd travelled far & wide
But it lied
I took refuge in the the pouring from a bottle
Aristotle
Said, ‘Happiness depends on ourselves’
Ring those bells!
‘Cos, Lord! She had me caught in her reflection
I feared rejection…
But, she took my hand & told me it was OK
Not to be OK
Her touch pulsing electric shocks between us
Two dreamers
Becoming believers…
Now, our inebriation is from each other
Intoxicated lover
I found that life began in your embrace
My safe place
And that little piece of heaven that lives in your soul
I'll fill with my love until we're grey & old
Until we are dust, dancing on the breeze
Over misty mountains, & eternal seas
Until we are woven within the fabric of time
Two broken souls who learnt how to shine
For, life is nothing if not strange & fleeting
Like love found, at an AA meeting…
