Dedication
DEDICATION
By the Urban Poet
To the posh gents
In their beer tents
And the champagne Charlie's
In the Barmy Army
Guarding the wicket
Whilst playing cricket
Not playing the field
'Cos it feels surreal
To the footie fans
And the white van man
Flogging Stella by the crate
As he circulates
Among the rabble rousers
In their council houses
To the bold ghost writer
And the tight fisted shyster
Who would cheat his own mother
If it wasn't for his brother
Who cared about his Mater
But hated his Pater
To the artistic poet
Who thought he'd blown it
When the toffs were not impressed
'Cos he was politically incorrect
To all the young boy racers
And their track pacemakers
When they rev up their engines
Playing dungeons and dragons
As they wind up the wagons
On a road to nowhere man
To the rich and famous
And the poor and blameless
Who have got no money
To go anywhere sunny
Like Monte Carlo
With the likes Gary Barlow
To the poets and artists
Who work shops and markets
To the high street busker
Who could hardly muster
A modicum of interest
At a Coroners inquest
So I dedicate this poem
Yes that's right I'm going
Now I've finished these verses
You can open yours purses
Tip your money in the hat
And that's the end of that!
