VISIBLE WALLS
High walls, shielded by glass panes
Sharp suits worn by the wealthy elite
Fresh air, sealed within concrete rooms
Elegant words, spoken with intellect and grace
From below,we gaze upward, watching as planes soar
Feeling small, consumed by uninvited jealousy
Hands up, shielding from the relentless sun above
Dreaming of roofs over our heads.
How absurd, how outdated-
Why do some gnaw in hunger while others spit with abundance?
Why do we feel like roots beneath their trees?
What a robbery, a theft of what is human
A theft of what is of earth
The earth cries under the weight of it all,
Its voice drowned by the clink of silver and gold
While the hungry starve, the powerful feast-
A feast that leaves no crumbs for the rest
In the shadows, we yearn for justice
Yet the walls grow taller, the glass thicker.
How long can we endure this cruel game?
Where the few rise, and the many remain unseen.
