Who Are You?
Who Are You?
Who are you, and why are you here?
I am your security, your protector and your safety blanket.
We will start this age of discovery and wonderment together,
Pausing only to sleep and refuel our curiosity.
Who are you, and why are you with me?
I am your companion, here to hold your hand.
We will travel through gates and down paths into green meadow and dark forest.
There we will pluck sweet flowers and slay dragons.
Who are you, and where are we going?
I am your guide through this short adventure.
We will experience life and love, blue heartaches and black dogs,
Shining our torches into crevices and turning rocks to the sun.
Who are you, and who sent you to me?
I am your teacher, and it was your voice that called for me.
We will seek answers, explore knowledge and draw conclusions,
Whilst crushing doubt with the sword of certainty.
Who are you, and what do you want?
I am your servant and wish nothing but kinship.
We will gather wealth, build kingdoms, and conquer worlds,
Beyond dreams and imaginations, with no shame or regret.
Who are you, and when should I let you free?
I am a friend, not a slave, only bound by loyalty.
We will acquire wisdom, count wrinkles and liver spots,
And consider them allies to be treasured.
Who are you, and when will I see you?
I am here in the mirror, hidden deep behind the eyes.
We will know each other when you look to your conscience,
And I will be revealed in their eulogies of you.

A compelling poem, Rob. I read it twice to let the words sink in. Well done!
