The Elusive Poetress
She’s been getting away with it, repeatedly
She’s been walking in the rain just to get wet on purpose, repeatedly
She’s been forcing herself not to forget just to feel worse, repeatedly
She hates that mirror, it makes her feel so worthless, repeatedly
She’s an original sinner but when she’s with him, she couldn't care less, repeatedly
She thought she gave up falling in love a long, long time ago, repeatedly
She guesses she likes it but she can't tell him, he shouldn't really know, repeatedly
She’s been talking to herself just to suggest that she’s selfish, repeatedly
She’s been trying to impress that more is less and she’s repressed, repeatedly
She’s on the platform, late at night, and she’s drunk Old Cubans repeatedly
She’s walking to the end to catch her train, her head thumps repeatedly
Then in the distance, she hears him call her name, repeatedly
She tries to ignore him but her heart is saying ‘No’, repeatedly
But all she can hear are the lyrics of the chorus, repeatedly,
‘However I look, it's clear to see
I love you more than you love me
However I look, it's clear to see
I love you more than you love me’
He catches up with her, she keeps it at bay repeatedly
Her inner voice says,’No way, Lee, No way, Lee’, No!’, repeatedly
So she gives him no lee-way, no lee-way, no, repeatedly
They say goodbye and she vanishes into the night
For she is he, and I is she
And from that day forth and for forever will be,
I be known as SEE ME, the elusive poetress.
