Foyle Young Poet Lewis Corry featured on Poems on the Underground
This year’s Spring Poems on the Underground posters include Foyle Young Poet Lewis Corry. The poster set was launched with readings outside the tube station at Covent Garden by Lewis, plus poets Niall Campbell, Imtiaz Dharker and Marjorie Lotfi.
The new set consists of six posters, which went live on London Underground and Overground from 24 February. It includes ‘2013, and Daedalus never moved away for work’ by Lewis, an 18-year-old poet from the Isle of Wight. Lewis was commended in the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award in 2023 and 2024.
His featured poem was selected after the Poetry Society and Poems on the Underground invited recent Foyle Young Poets to submit their poems for consideration. Featured in the autumn 2024 Poems on the Underground were Foyle Young Poets Dawn Sands and Arthur Lawson.
The Poems of the Underground Spring 2025 set also includes poems by Zhao Zhenkai (trans. Jeffrey Yang), George Herbert, Li-Young Lee, Niall Campbell, and Sujata Bhatt.
The partnership between the Poetry Society and Poems on the Underground is a long-standing collaboration, set up in 1986. Poems are selected by Judith Chernaik, Imtiaz Dharker, and George Szirtes.
