thousands of the faceless break ranks,

they scramble through the make-believe   

of another carefully calculated marketing ploy,

they have no control over their addictions,

materialism has overridden what’s free,

nothing of any value survives in a consumer society,

we’re in debt to the creator,

a manufactured greed

fuelled by a manufactured need,

to replace meaning with objects
