I was stood outside with my grandfather and mum, specifically to see the comet,

I was the first to spot it.

This comet takes 437 years to circle the solar system. I will never see this comet again in my lifetime. 

I will never forget that moment,

not until the day I die.

Standing, barefoot in the mud and staring up

into the night sky for so long I could see the different

strobes of purple and blue that made the Milky Way.

I will never forget being beside two of my favourite people in the world,

watching as this little orange dot travelled across the sky.

It will be visible for weeks to come, but I will never see it again.

It is okay.

I saw it first.
