Shattered Dreams

entry picture

I wasn't really asking for a lot
A little happiness look what I got
I didn't have no master plan
Just doing the best that I can
The praying kind of guy not me
Meditation will set my mind free

Shattered dreams are all that remain
An existence that will never be the same
Promises made and  broken
Just hollow words spoken
Shattered dreams are all that remain

To reflect you take the time
Divine intervention would suit me fine
I would lay my life on the line
If only I could turn back time
But alas I no longer believe
All I have is a lifetime to grieve

Shattered dreams are all that remain
An existence that will never be the same
The gift of life has been taken
The future has been forsaken
Shattered dreams are all that remain

At times I look up to the sky
The heavens seem to pass me by
Each and every day you are on my mind
I remember you as loving and kind
Sometimes it is hard to soldier on
But I know that you would want me to be strong

Shattered dreams are all that remain
An existence that will never be the same
Just when you think you got it made
The hand of fate leaves you dismayed
Shattered dreams are all that remain
