No Time To Sleep
No Time To Sleep
Daylight begins a retreat,
Gradually surrendering its warmth.
Chills, promoted by dusk’s bravado,
Settle on flesh and land alike.
Horizon’s parting kiss now fades,
Barely illuminated by the sinking sun.
Another familiar night nestles in,
Beckoned on by a seductive moon.
Stellar gems sparkle on a black velvet dress,
Joining the celebration of celestial rebirth.
Fleeting clouds, outlined in silver,
Make a guest appearance and move on,
Leaving a crisp, endless clarity.
Hubbub and babble are hushed,
Allowing silence its rightful place.
Minds and bodies are put to rest,
Except for the nocturnal beings,
And those who cannot or care not to sleep,
Observing the darkness with reverence.
