Plate of Plenty

If you don't like what's on your plate,
Don’t toss it aside, don’t seal its fate.
Each bite holds a story, a journey begun,
A gift from the earth, a battle won.
Imagine a morning when the table is bare,
No bread, no fruit, just an empty stare.
What will you do when hunger call loud,
When the pantry is empty, and you feel starving.
The laughter of meals shared, the warmth of a feast,
All vanish in silence, a hunger unleashed.
So before you discard what you do not desire,
Think of the hands that toiled, the hearts that inspire.
Each morsel is a blessing, a chance to reflect,
On those who have little, on lives we protect.
So savor the flavors, let gratitude flow,
For the food on your table, let appreciation grow.
For one day you may wake, and the shelves may be bare,
And you’ll long for the meals that once filled the air.
So cherish each bite, let no food go to waste,
For a plate full of plenty is a treasure to taste.

Uilleam Ó Ceallaigh, Thank you for the like and comments. Just wanna say, to avoid "fridge soup" just live within your cravings. 😁 I hope this help.

Thank you, AirlogRigsMaria.
We children -five of us- we were taught to say grace before eating...a good habit, on reflection.
I live in a society where we "live to eat", instead of "eating to live"....obscene waste being the norm, whilst others starve.
At home, I feel guilty about throwing food away, and so, I often end up with a fridge full of the ingredients of my recipe called "fridge soup"!😏
