RURAL NEWS

The architect of my own fate, naturally,

I keep to Natural things, do not support

a Burger King joint atop the oldest fell

to replace the archaic sense of the word ‘gay.’

Having said that I approve of both the new pavement

down to the sea and new beach cafe…

I was down there recently, playing

guitar on a busy, hot day with a friend.

I decided to look out at the Irish Sea

while I strummed, instead of at the fretboard.

We ate over-priced ice-cream in a dream.

It seems only days ago but was longer.

One thing I cannot abide by though

is the threat of the new nuclear

dump being built in this idyllic situation

where watercolours go for the price of the frame.

It’s not just Nature but house prices dropping…

one day we are going to have to move away,

downsize, streamline our belongings, and

don’t wish to be short-changed by death.
