SHIRLEY VALENTINE

entry picture

Our Gert was looking forward to seeing a reproduction of this with her pal at Leeds Playhouse.

She happened to mention this to another friend who told her “Good Luck with that!”.

“How do you mean?” asked Our Gert.

“We went to see a production of “Kes” a few weeks ago. It was performed by two actors. And there was no bird”.

Any road up, Our Gert went to see Shirley Valentine last week. She was not disappointed.

It was performed by one actor.

I think some of the people involved in running our theatres need to get their priorities sorted out.

At our local theatre, the cafe and bars have been spared no expense and countless months have been spent on "enlarging" god knows what?
Unfortunately, the acoustics remain as bad as ever, leading to people walking out because their enjoyment of otherwise good productions has been ruined.
And I for one, risk needing an appointment with a physio after a couple of hours spent in the balcony, craning my neck in order to be able to be able to see parts of in- the-round productions.
.........................Sort it please!
