The Shoe: China 2008

The Shoe: China 2008

The ground moved and I ran

Shocked rock rained

Earth crushed earth,

And groaned with the agony of creaking bones

The rupture of structure

The buildings breaking

Crashing, pushing, crowding

I ran, and I was lost

My fleeing finished, I am left behind

Half buried and blind

Here in rubble, wrecked and hopeless

Lost and footless

Forgotten in the agony of reality

In a mother’s desperate cry

And left

To wonder why

A Plea: Burma 2008

Compassion before power

This is the time, to

Quit your ivory tower

Show mercy and shine

A simply beautiful poem. I especially love the plea. It grabs hold of you and shakes you. I admire the way you write so powerfully, with just so few lines.

Hi Carol

Brilliant and powerful write. It's a bit like the saying 'Walk a Mile in my Shoes' and it I really felt that.
thank you very much for sharing.

Hello, Carol

Capturing the latest disaster in China - Your poems is on time...
To bad, that so many died under the rebel of rumblings.

Historical writes.

Thank you,

You should be proud of this poem for its very real approach. Short and to the point. Sometimes that is all poetry needs to be.

In short, the message is straight to the point and is very dramatic. A big swollen thumbs up from me! I will be going straight to your page now! Have a great weekend.
