                                                 African Plains

Have you noticed that time slips between us?

At first we’re venturing Venutian skies,

Then thirty-six hours within an Earthly hour –

And we’re sitting within a Martian day.

                Have you noticed,

                                Have you noticed the distance

Between us can seem as far apart as two opposing poles –

And that,

The touch of two lovers kissing seems

Only a brief, momentary acknowledgement of

Whom we are?

                I once was dead!

And now alive again – the All I am can never

Claim a rest,

Can never let go a minute to breathe your scent,

To save the look within your brown eyes as they

Dance with jest upon the man you see before you,

And though humbled, I’m laughing too as the smile

Between us begs a sweet embrace that grows

Like infinite rainbow that arcs the universe

Of we two souls, and neither  You or I,

Are lost.

                Life,

                                Struggles on despite

The multitudes with whom we co-exist,

And the brevity of moving cheek upon cheek

Takes and teases powerfully my sense,

But swaying now within the four walls

That make mockery of freedoms I need to say -

                Nomalungelo,

You are loved no matter where in space and time

You may be,

Loved for the only freedom you are;

My freedom,

                My freedom to love complete

Like nomad belonging only to the savannah of your heart!

Mike, this is breath-taking in the breadth of your concept and the depth of your presentation. For me, any 'weakish' spots are overridden by the majesty of your personal understanding (if that doesn't sound corny beyond belief!) and your sincerity.
