Poetry in aid of Pakistan

entry picture

The Bluebell Bookshop in Penrith is hosting an evening of poetry, music and images of Pakistan, next Thursday evening, 9th September, in aid of the flood victims.

Monsoon rains have caused extensive flooding throughout Pakistan; more than 1500 people have been killed, and more than 17 million people have been affected. The floodwaters have washed away crops, submerged villages, and destroyed roads and bridges; in all more than 1.2 million homes have been damaged or destroyed, and more people have been affected by the floods than the Boxing Day tsunami in Thailand and the Haiti earthquake combined. Disease is spreading, and people there are in desperate need of food, shelter, medicines – everything in fact.

Owners - Geraldine and Derek Robinson, and friends of The Bluebell Bookshop would like to welcome as many people as possible to come along to show their support and share their time, their poetry and music, and hopefully – their donations in aid of the Pakistan appeal.

The evening will start at 7.30pm and last until 10pm and refreshments will be available. There is no entry fee but donations are, of course, very welcome. You can find more details, including directions to the bookshop on the gig guide.
