Another Cause for DIstress
you just took too many pills
not even for highs or thrills
nor for a sense of light relief
you just lost all belief
-
a cry for help gone wrong
a yearn for attention you’ve wanted for so long
and instead of asking your friends for an answer
you thought to create a solution
-
you wake up to see us by the hospital bed
with paramedics worrying that your dead
your mothers pain piercing sound waves
at your attempt for an early grave
-
i stand at the back of the room looking at broken floor tiles
doubts of life being thrown onto growing piles
looking at your lifeless limbs
a wonderful life just turned grim
-
when we take you home you go to rest
the doctors orders which would be best
we all watch you as you walk up the stairs
as you hide yourself in embaressment from our fearful eyes
-
this made me question myself as family
do we pay enough attention to you
i mean we always try to
but you obviously don’t see that
-
instead of turning to us with your problems
you turn to painkillers
and with each one that you swallow
you think of your parents as just being hollow
-
we are like blank canvases to you
the archetypal parents that turn a blind eye
to you
our little girl
-
you don’t understand that we love you
so we decide to burst into your room to give you a surprise hug
to forgive you for anything you feel we have ever done
because we are just a weak flower hungry for your sun
-
we quietly open the door
and see that you’ve gone to rest
our beautiful daughter
