Blowing our own Trumpet
Write Out Loud success at Jazz Festival!
It was standing-room only for the Write Out Loud Poetry Jam at Marsden’s famous jazz festival. The Tunnel End Inn audience was packed in like sardines to hear some wonderful verse from the 18 readers, both nervous newbies and experienced performers.
Landlords Bev and Gary were delighted with the atmosphere and – of course – the numbers who supported the event; though they seemed to be too busy making coffee and pouring pints to hear every line of what was some magnificent and some very funny verse, from heartfelt to hearty, sad to saucy, vivacious to salacious (OK, I’m boring myself now!).
Thanks to readers Sean, Rob, Stephanie, Jan, Alan, John, Freda, Felix, Lynda and Dave Morgan, Richard, Isobel, Dionne and the Steves: Mellor, Pass and Greenhalgh. Oh, and Cheryl – whoever you are - you are still on the M62, thanks to you too for at least trying to get there. I am sure your poems would have gone down just as well as everyone else’s in this quality programme. Perhaps next year?
