Death in a Library

Here's another recent poem, I've been offline recently with computer problems so I've not shared much new work on here, I apologise.

Here's a piece I performed at last month's Freed Up, and at the Halloween Special of my own anything goes open mic/space (because we're not all wordsmiths, some people dance or play instruments) arts event OpenMind.

It's quickly becoming one of my favourites.

Here it is:

The world is but a library,
A timeless collection of chronicles.
Myths and legends entwined,
Against an Arcadian backdrop.

War and Peace,
The Art of War.
A definitive edition of the Second World War.
Fact bleeding into fiction.
Like a haemophiliac's academic epiphany.

The poet paints pictures with words,
As the demonic warrior unsheathes his sword...
Ending all resistance with force.

But remember,
"Shhhhhhhh, we're in a library".

I'll probably perform this again on Friday 19th November at Earth Cafe's OpenMind presents Josh Coates plus guests. If you're a fan of poetry you won't want to miss it as there's also a chance to share your own work too.
