silver polish

entry picture

I sit and polish silver.

First, a salt spoon with a little bend.

Then, the mustard pot.

I love the mustard pot.

It has a spoon shaped like a woman.

Hallmarked 1871.

A set of fish knives with Bakelite

Handles.

Very like a set my mother had.

Remember the loose and wayward handles!

Cannot remember eating fish.

The smell of Brasso takes me back

To a dingy Brixton flat.

I sit and polish silver.

I am never alone.

Delightful, Ann. My fave line: 'cannot remember eating fish'. I also love to polish some silver treasures, maybe worth a few quid in today's market, but precious to me for memories also. I've never used Brasso except on brass.

Of course in the Potteries they dust and polish Toby Jugs and Doulton figures for recreation and therapy, each one has a story and a memory, they're the ever-watching link with the past, and those passed.

Oh the joys of Ebay! There, I can recapture my childhood!
