Songbird

entry picture

A songbird sings a sweet melodic song

To seduce the heart of this lady fair at dawn

He dances around from branch to branch

His colourful plumage on his broad chest dazzles in morning rays

A rainbow, magnified by drizzling dew

I gaze at their fledgling love high in the tree tops through binoculars

There aerial ballet, will it lead to love?

This courtship raised sweet memories

My mind was hijacked by heady visions of our dance

I am transported to when our eyes meet across the floor

We danced to a slow sensual Latin rhythm

The rumba gives flight to our feet

We posture as we glide, floating on a cushion of air

I breathe in deeply; chest expands to its fullest

I am that your male songbird bidding to win your favour

The sweet scent of your perfume enflames passion

Our eyes entranced, bathed in thoughts of loves first embrace

We move as one, intoxicated by the cadence of the melody

We emphasize our bodies as we posture, songbirds dance

Her moist lips part in anticipation, the world falls from view

The female invitingly accepts the promise of this songbird’s hypnotic sway

Soft warm lips, to rhythm of the rumba, melt together as one

The intoxication of our first kiss spins my mind

We leave the dance floor fingers entwined

Only we exist

A pale moon bathes a soft beam as they walk to their car

As if born on angles wings we arrived at our hotel early morn

We get drunk upon the fragrance of lover’s perfume

Carried upon morning breeze into our room

Our satisfied bodies lay on the bed entwined

A songbird sings his sweet courtship song

We smile

Daniel, you are spot on with your observations. I should have read it through more thoroughly before posting. Take 2 will appear soon

Orchestrated to the song of birds. I got a little confused between the personal "I", "we", "our" and then the references to "they". The split between the speaker and the lady and the birds is possibly a little too blurred for my simple mind to keep the images seperate.... hope you don't mind this bit of crit.
