The Blue Of Autumn

And all the flora

Have gone to sleep

Distant slumber

Dreaming of pollinations

Summer leaves, departed

In & out

Of nature’s wing

Yesterday: vivacious and liberated.

Today: saturated and blue.

The only blue of autumn.

Soon the effigy of man

Stands to scare the crows

His infant stake

Fused in the long-standing earth
