Dave Morgan presents his adaptation of Poetic off licence by Hovis Presley (1960-2005) as part of manchester’s “not part of” festival

Hovis in wonderland is a play for voices written as an homage to the wit, word play and acute social observation of Richard henry mcfarlane and his alter ego hovis presley.

Famous as the inventor of the bra-less strap and the individually wrapped baked bean, Hovis Presley was an iconic figure who uniquely filled the space between stand-up comedy, alternative cabaret and performance poetry. Although ill at ease with fame Hovis Presley’s national reputation has been sealed recently by Mark Radcliffe’s Radio 4 tribute “Hovis has left the building”. This performance follows successful short tours of the North West in 2007 and 2008 including two visits to the Royal Exchange.
Introduced by Dave Morgan

Hovis in Wonderland is a two act play for voices, Act 1 “As good things go…she went”, and Act 2 “Wherever I lay my hat…that’s my hat”
