Your Favourite Place to Write ...
Edith Wharton would compose in bed on a writing board propped upon her lap, while Roald Dahl conjured his creations in a shed at the bottom of his garden... When the Arvon Foundation asked some of their tutors where they liked to write, they had a great response. Poets Penelope Shuttle likes writing in the attic, while Simon Armitage admits his favourite place is in his head, and actress, writer and comedienne - Isy Suttie (pictured) likes to write in a messy bedroom amidst dirty clothes.
Now your favourite place to write could win you an Arvon week of your choice in their new competition.
To enter send a piece of flash fiction or poetry that describes your favourite writing place before the closing date of Saturday, 21st May 2011. The winning entry will be chosen by Sunday Times journalist Cathy Galvin.
Send your story to competition@arvonfoundation.org and you can find more information on the competition and about Arvon Foundation courses on their website at: www.arvonfoundation.org/p1.html
