That Takes Ovaries – performance and open mic with a difference!

entry picture

Not strictly poetry perhaps, but Liverpool’s Unity Theatre hosts a unique celebration of women’s courage, perseverance  and outrageousness with real-life stories  from around the world; from  the disabled  woman organising a ‘pee protest’ to secure her right to a  accessible toilet,  to  the ‘smutmonger’ who breaks boundaries  to write about sex, and those women who risked their lives to  highlight child prostitution and honour killings.

After the show the audience is invited to join in an open-mic session to tell their own stories of ovarian bravery.

All profits go to Merseyside Women’s Movement nominated charities: RASA - Merseyside’s Rape & Sexual Assault Support Service and Seema - a Bangladeshi women’s village helping to support women through poverty & trauma.
