little dog digging

entry picture

with sandwiches sanding

and babygros crawling

show offs astranding

and dungarees paddling

holdinghands lovers

and little dog digging

some muffled sunbathing

there’s no one complaining

sitting on blankets

sunglasses and wellies

deep rock pools enticing

as sandcastle city

(no planning permission)

grows wetly and slushy

from bright plastic buckets

with sea for a moat

frothy waves slicing

like sugary icing

as battlements crumble

and babygros tumble

and this is my Chapel

this sturdy cold morning

the ocean is roaring

the sun almost warming

first sunday of springing

the skylark is singing

there’s nothing so busy

as little dog digging

I miss the ocean; even more since reading this. I feel wind-braced by it. Atmospherically done, Ann. Thank you.
