Darwin, Dawkins and Dr Williams

Last week I read Darwin on holiday

While waiting for the others to awake

It was rather dry (the book, not the day)

But it was an effort I had to make

And now Richard Dawkins is trying to break

The hold of religion on school science

Campaigning hard for Darwin’s shocking take

That we are related to worms and hens

Which some schools daren’t stand by, in case offence

Is taken by ostriches, who when they

Hear hard, challenging truth, declare it fake

And say that science isn’t evidence

Dawkins is talkin’ to Canterbury

And Rowan’s goin’ to squirm like a snake

Written a few minutes ago while watching Dawkins on Channel 4.  For the record, I'm agnostic. Surely that will not come as a surprise!

Hi Antoni,
I like the tone in this poem.
I won't go on about Darwins theory, we can all be likened to a species of some description.
Look at the chinese animal symbols for particular horoscope signs. My own is pretty spot on but i hope no-one thinks i look like one, or call me one for that matter. ha ha.

Ostriches i know aplenty. Enough said about that.

Antonionoinioni, a good write - very topical today - made me think of wider secularist issues that exist today, so thereby thought provoking. Ta.

Hello, Antonio

These sounds like a darker type of a write -Darwin Theory…I will not dispute anything in your poem, your expression is excellent and the poem is good!

For me it would be rather difficult to write about politics and Philosophy.

Thank you,
Zuzanna
