Libraries aurally learnt

Great listeners can become learned without ever having read.
Vicariously they acquire their libraries aurally instead.
For them the written word is but a token, so if it goes unsaid,
The thought that is unspoken, effectively is dead.

Thanks Chris. It was inspired by the fact that I don't read a lot of poetry, but hear a lot and some of the poets I listen to are prolific readers generally.

I like the thinking Mark, it's very interesting; I like the duality that exists between the literal and the figure of speech. And I love the concept.

Well thought/written.

A somewhat similar idea was expressed in prose in the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
It's a brilliant novel (though it takes time to get into it).

I would recommend that novel to you on the basis of the thinking you exhibit.

My Best

Chris
