our treasured friends
Our treasured friends
One by one they disappear
In a slowly closing down world
Cancer curls the edges
Of our salad days
And takes another away
The remainder
Group closer together
And sway
Collectively
we notice
The breeze increasingly colder
Hugging each other ever harder
Staining each others shoulder
With our streaming faces
For the missing
For the passing
Yet another part of us dies
Clutching in desperation
As though now on borrowed time
No longer the child like mind
When everything was invincible
Embracing
Find comfort in what remains
For that is all we have
Everyone left around us
Ever more the valuable
Increasingly appreciated
In ever decreasing circles
And every moment precious
The passing remind us
that
We are one day closer ourselves
