Plea for November

We met in the March with lingering glances,

In April we declared our emotions

Our love was young and full of wonder

Throughout our summer of devotion.

Now in Autumn a chill has arrived,

Bitter words fall like leaves from the trees.

Can we retrieve what we had before

A frost puts our ardour in deep freeze?

Our love lies dying on the ground,

My plea is plaintive, heaven knows,

Let it not become buried deep

Beneath the cruel winter’s deep snows.

Thank you Francine for your helpful comments, much appreciated. I have changed the line you mention. Cheers. :)

Hi Lynn,

I like the first verse of both.
Think the line with a question mark needs reworking on free verse because you have 'kills' and 'dead'
Like the last verse of rhyme

p.s. Thank you so much for your comments on my latest!
