I Can't Take Anymore...(about TV)
I sit in my flat listening to the pouring rain - on the window pane.
The TV is on, what a pain-
Coronation Street is on again and again.
Ken Barlow has been in it for years - he must be bloody eghty four-
or more?
What about a good funny carry On Film from 1974?
...I can't take anymore!
I use my remote again and switch channels.
There is a political debate - about the credit crunch-
On Freeview Channel 8.
Oh God! A repeat of 'Man Alive' from 1965 - on Channel 5.
With American Baseball Scores on Channel Four.
...I can't take anymore
I grab the remote yet again -
Flicking through the multitudenous of TV channels as I often do.
Wow! there is a Japanese film on about The Samurai (with subtitles) on BBC 2-
there is a Life of Grime on - there is CSI crime on-
There are Holidays from Hell on Channel 64-
Me backs aching - will have to lay on the floor!
There is the death toll of British and American dead-
from both Afghanistan and Iraq on Channel 24,
...I can't take anymore!
I use the TV remote to flick forwards - and back.
I am fed up with destruction, death and wars.
And hearing about the numerous attacks on Iraq.
Eastenders is on 5 times a week - Hang on I will press this button-
it says Autoseek?
There is a film on later tonight, starring Carol White from 1964! -
called 'Poor Cow'- pity it's not on right now .
I wonder what else is on tonight?
Doesn't seem to be a great choice- tis' right-
do you know what, I think I'm losing my voice?
Am now watching a repeat of the repeat of the Football Scores on Channel 4 more - what a bore!
...I can't take anymore!
( I wrote the above poem one wet n windy lonely night in my flat, but that's enough of that)...
From Graham's book 'Observations On Life' available from www.countyvise.co.uk or Graham!
