Pagan Poetry in Guildford

entry picture

Dónall Dempsey & Jan Windle's Pagan Poetry event on Tuesday 1st May at the Bar Des Arts was another amazing evening of spoken word, spiced with double bass and various tympany by the AntiPoet (Paul Eccentric and Ian Newman) and the quiet craziness of Will Hames. Paul aired some of his poetry unaccompanied, too, with his usual intensity and aplomb. Both features were an instant hit with the Guildford audience. Both had travelled long to get on stage - Will from London and the AntiPoet boys from Hertfordshire.

We were also very thrilled to welcome Jazzman John Clark to the Bar des Arts, and Antosh Wojcek from Winchester. Alex De Suys had written a great new set to the theme, and local poets Rodney Wood, Andy B J Low, Geoff Pimlott and Eddie Chauncy were also highly appreciated by this friendly audience of some 40 souls, which is swelling in numbers every month.

Next Pop Up Poetry event at the Bar Des Arts in Millbrook, Guildford, (opposite the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre) is on May 29th and features Rodney Wood, the tallest funny girl on the London Poetry scene, Chery Mclennan, and all the open mic slots we can cram into an evening. (Sign up for 7.30 start)  Entry's free.
