The SCJ Poetry Prizes

The Themes: Childhood. Culture. Education. (Themes may be broadly interpreted.)

Prizes Adults: 1st £1000 2nd £700 3rd £300

Under 18: 1st £250 2nd £150 3rd £100

Commendations: five adult, ten under 18. £10 book tokens.

Winners notified by 20th May 2013

Award Ceremony, June 6th 2013 at 7.30pm at the Rose Theatre Kingston, featuring music, dance and readings from Christopher Reid, Anne-Marie Fyfe, Claire Crowther and prize winners. An anthology will be published.

Competition entry fee: Free to poets under 18. Adults: £5 for up to 3 poems.

Rules: Poems must not exceed 40 lines. Poems must not be previously published or have won a previous prize. Poems must be typed on one side of paper. The name, address, contact number and e-mail of the poet must be submitted on a separate piece of paper together with the title/s of poem/s and first lines of poems. Under 18s should state age. Decision of judges is final. No poems will be returned. Copyright will remain with the authors. Please indicate if you would like to be in-formed (by e-mail) of receipt of poems
