Falling Petals
Falling Petals
1.
A flower is not just a flower,
For if it was, it would be only one
When there are many,
Many different shapes, sizes, colours,
Some grow tall while others so small
You’d catch your stride to see it
Reach a sky that Spring and Summer;
Once boasted blue.
2.
We can tend our flowers -
We can tend all if mindful
How precious they are,
Alas, flowers are taken for granted –
They grow they spawn they die,
And so, we discard so many;
Let them fall to the ground - un-watered,
Uncared for and left at the mercy of elements,
Elements we know we cannot predict
But seem, in disarray,
Nature, can be a strange beast,
For often we can marvel at that which
Is taken by storm - the next hour, day or week!
3.
So how long does a flower live?
How long will it be before man tries
To place seed from un-known origins just,
To see what happens,
(How long the life proposed a multitude
Of sins,
Which,- become the targets of
Wrongful incarnations)?
4.
A rose bud, can live or die
As you and I,
A rose bud can grow untethered or struggle
Among the bramble and weed,
A rose bud can grow while a cannibal plant
Stands by anciently waiting – patiently there
To stake its claim,
A rose bud, like you and I,
Susceptible to the macabre;
Can fall victim - become
The future history you feared,
Now forever in terror;
You’ll not want to sit by
And see its doom,
5.
I stand guard upon
My own of Natures natural flora,
I stand guard and besiege my garden
With tall fences I know can be overrun,
I wait, I watch, I listen for the scratching’s
That foretell of endless struggles with
Decay,
And I hope and I pray,
The season is a ‘just’ one, for all our
Flowers to bloom.
