Papaya

Tasted sweet but not too sweet

soft and like its colour,

it had to be peeled

and relieved of its thick skin.

It reminded me of the mango and made

me think of staying in Byron Bay –

when a girl said it was good for your complexion.

I never actually saw anyone else eating

them or can’t remember having

but the crate in the cupboard would empty.

Not as nice as mango and not as

available now I am not in Brazil.

I am sure Ulf or Trinity or a least Nina

would have eaten them.
