What Now the Bullet?

 

 

            How heavy in the hand

Does a bullet feel?

How grandiose is the protagonist

Skilled?

     How fast and beautiful does

Led and sulphur fly?

     How beautiful be brains and

Body, condemned to die?

 

            How fooled is the soldier

Schooled in the gun?

How ruled by the ego, our

Deliberate son?

     Is life now so cheap,

Women weep no more?

     When courting the bullet,

And favouring war!

 

            How heavy this war does

The infant weigh?

What price costs bullets, more

Than race for a babe?

     How many rounds in the

Palm of your hand?

            How little the soul

Reaching up to the man
