She Shines On Me
When I gaze into her eyes the pain is so real,
They mirror her lifetime and all of the hurt,
The wounds are still open and refuse to heal,
Sad memories live on and will not desert,
She is as tough as titanium - she is pure steel,
The past still haunts her - that’s a dead cert,
She tries to be strong, but love she can’t feel,
Deep inside the scars run candid and curt,
She may not be blind, but she can’t see,
That the light of her life is shining on me,
The burden she carries is weighing her down,
She is as free as a bird and nobody’s fool,
Angelic is her smile, but she wears a frown,
Her kindness is joyous, but she can be cruel,
She laughs out loud with the tears of a clown,
Her passion it burns and breaks all the rules,
If only we could run away from this town,
To discover a new world - a heavenly jewel,
Her eyes are wide open, but she can’t see,
That the light of her life is shining on me.
