Over Edge
Tonight, they say
is the end of the world,
and what a beautiful night
it truly is
with a touch of winter,
a mist of sadness,
and a dark sea
of peace.
Everyone is waiting
for the lights
to go out.
Everyone wonders
what waits
beyond the world.
Tonight is the last night
to be alive,
to be free,
and dream a thousand dreams
before the last one disappears
into the end.
Will we be remembered?
What history will be
left behind,
waiting to be discovered?
And the hours drift by.
I stand alone,
watching the world fade,
and awed by the beauty
of death approaching
over blazing stars
burning so vividly
into darkness.
And it was all nothing
but a dream,
a night to never end,
and we wait.
We wait
for life to begin.
