Poetry workshop: Ten things you never knew you knew

entry picture

As a former US defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, above, once said: “There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know.” The Write Out Loud poetry writing exercise for April is: Write a poem entitled “Ten things I never knew I knew.”

Gnomelessness

Know gnomes?
No, know no gnomes.
No? No gnomes to go to?
No, know no gnomes.
Known gnomes?
No! Know no gnomes, known no gnomes!
No?
No! Know Nanette.

There is that which is known
There is that which can never be known
There is that which might be known, and
That which is as yet unknown
And there is of course the knower...
Who might be known,
Might never be known
Is yet to be known
And yet knows;
How to know,
But who is yet to know
Whatever there is to hone
Should be known.
If you know what I mean?

thsanks for this prompt! heres mine: Ten things I never knew I knew

I
Piano Heaven
That you can play guitar any way that you like
What a Ranunculus plant looks like
That a lamb would be curious about a camera
That I could brick-lay
Cherries are rich in copper
Peace
God
Happiness
