LAS VEGAS
Las Vegas
Luxor, Excalibur, MGM, New York New York,
Casino thru casino for as long as you can walk,
People watching paradise,
The city of sin,
An air raid of the senses,
Sight, sound and smell begin.
Citric explosion of colour and lights,
One dollar foot long hotdog,
Complimentary Miller Lights,
As Croupiers stand by for immediate reposte,
Red, black, black, red,
Your counting the cost!
An expectant pull of a one armed bandit,
Hour upon hour...as long as you can stand it!
Each casino interior,
Identical in juxtapose,
Belying its external glory,
caring not for gamblers highs or woes.
As Elvis sings lonely from a 1 dollar fruit machine corner,
You watch the trapeze artist,
With eyes like a saucer.
You plan your next trip along the busying strip,
To view an enactment upon a treasure island ship.
Entertaining beggars frequent the strip,
Placards stating lament with humerous twist,
"Why lie, i need beer" and "Help a stoner get stoned"
Preying on generosity from tourists....then blown!
Freemont Street, Vegas's heart and soul,
Trip wire acts fly overhead,
Intertwined with overhead effects,
People drink from plastic guitars,
As if the natural means.
Daytime photography impersonators give way to street magicians,
Darth Vader, and Homer Simpson return tip laden to respective Death Stars or Springfields,
Whilst magicians unleash their tricks!
Upon visiting Vegas,
Keep an open mind,
Expect the unexpected,
As if not to blow your mind!
