An Indistinguishable
An Indistinguishable (Distinguished Only in Deformities)
He sits not knowing how many he’s touched,
Never conceding his own life of bitterness
As daily he wishes only for the pain to stop,
He like many, joined a chorus of discord
Where harmonies were never
Sweet but, fraught with tensions
And atmospherics,
Only gave hint of a dying space
Where each one,
Each act wanted the curtain fall,
Meaning, became drowned in
Images of deformity – the babes
Born to a host of chemicals
And he swore he would drink himself
And never, wake sober
To a nightmare that punished
Everyone who thought they knew it all.
Hell was for sinners,
That much he knew,
But here on Earth,
Warfare must be
Feared both by men
And devil alike,
For war took sinners yes,
But Mums, Dads, Children
Born innocent,
Indiscriminate heckling
Of both Politician
And General fell upon deaf ears,
While babes screamed
But could not see
And he,
Falling down a deep
Well of alcohol he hoped
Would never see light of day,
Felt certain that nothing,
Nothing of all the days he lived,
Meant anything in all his sorrowed years,
He prayed that once sleeping
He never would awake.
