Growing Up
Growing Up
All I ever wanted was to be a Man,
All I ever sought was maturity and wisdom,
So I tried many things to be
That Man,
And now,
I am but it has come at cost,
The ignorance of youth
‘Can’ be a blessing in disguise
For now I am that man,
I am surrounded now by children
for,
I have lived a life – known lie,
As I have sought the status –
Bearing arms – a predicate
That ‘some’ say be the courage
To make that man,
But in reality,
The Man in you
Will only be found
When you encourage
Only truth,
It is a difficult process,
Some go to war,
Some commit habitual
Crimes and fear nothing
More of prison,
Some seek only
Monetary gain
To adorn themselves
With trinkets – adults wear,
And yet many evade
The true distinction
Between that of child
And that of man,
For the truth in becoming
Man,
Is when you
Behold this Earth
With all the fragility she holds,
And become protectorate
Of her many forms;-
And seek within
This one World with
One Sun, one Moon;
A time - when there’ll be peace!
